Disposable Paper Cone Filters with Nylon Mesh
Always strain your paint to remove dried flakes, undissolved pigment, seed, dust, and other contaminants. This prevents gun blockages and surface defects, ensuring a smooth, professional finish.
Filtering your paint is essential for consistent results. All paints and clears should be strained unless your TDS states otherwise. Always check the TDS to confirm the correct mesh size.
Our disposable paper cone filters feature a high-quality nylon mesh for reliable filtration of solvent-based automotive paints and clears. Available in three grades to suit the full DNA® Custom Paints range:
125 µm (Ultra-Fine): For DNA® Fluorescent Colours and paints requiring fine filtration.
190 µm (Fine): The standard size for most applications — metallics, pearls, solids, primers, 2K topcoats, and clears.
280 / 300 µm (Coarse): For DNA® Smashed Metal™, Pink Flamingo™, and other heavy-flake finishes.
If you are painting with Kandy, Candies, Candy ColorZ™ be sure to ALWAYS use our 100% nylon re-usable 60µm Micro Filter.
Description
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE – CHECK PPS CUP INTERNAL FILTERS BEFORE USE
Many PPS-style disposable cup systems include a built-in mesh strainer, usually rated at 190 µm.
While this rating suits most automotive paints, not all DNA® Custom Paints products are compatible with a 190 µm filter.
If the internal filter rating differs from the recommended paint strainer rating, you must remove the internal filter before filling or spraying.
Using the wrong filter size can remove essential flakes or pigments, alter colour accuracy, or cause uneven spray patterns — particularly with coarse or specialty paints.
Instructions:
Check the filter rating printed or embossed inside your PPS liner (e.g. 125 µm / 190 µm / 200 µm).
Compare that rating to the recommended filter size for your paint system (see table below).
If the PPS filter rating does not match, remove the internal filter and use an external paper or nylon filter of the correct micron rating.
Once filtered externally, spray without the internal PPS filter installed.
(PPS liners and filters are single-use and should be discarded after use.)
