Candy ColorZ™ Pre-Mixed Candy Paint

Achieve deep, luminous colour with DNA® Candy ColorZ™ pre-mixed candy paint. These true dye-based candies allow light to pass through the colour and reflect from the ground coat beneath, creating the depth and brilliance that make candy finishes so distinctive.

The candy dye and carrier are already blended, saving you the step of measuring concentrate into FX Intercoat. Simply add DNA Candy Reducer, filter and spray.

Simple mixing with DNA Candy Reducer

Mix 1 part pre-mixed Candy ColorZ™ with 1 part DNA Candy Reducer by volume.

For example, mix 100 ml of pre-mixed candy paint with 100 ml of Candy Reducer. No additional FX Intercoat is required.

DNA Candy Reducer is specially formulated for Candy ColorZ™ and helps minimise mottle and seeding. The correct reducer is essential for consistent application, drying and adhesion. Substituting an unsuitable reducer can cause uneven colour, poor drying or delamination.

Filter before spraying

All true candy paints should be filtered before spraying, regardless of brand. Fine particles known as “seeding” can sometimes develop in dye-based candies, and filtering helps prevent any particles present from affecting the finish.

Strain the reduced paint through the DNA reusable Micro-Fine Candy Filter, FIL-01. Its 60-micron mesh provides finer filtration than conventional paper paint strainers.

Make filtering part of your normal paint preparation. You can add the reusable Candy Filter to your order using the options above.

Choose your ground coat

Your ground coat shapes the final colour and effect. Because Candy ColorZ™ is transparent, the colour, reflectivity and uniformity of the surface beneath remain important throughout the finish.

Use DNA Silver Flare metallic for a traditional candy appearance, or a DNA metal flake ground coat for added sparkle. Different ground coat colours produce different results, while additional candy coats deepen and darken the colour.

Our reference colours are based on approximately four candy coats over Silver Flare metallic. Always spray a test panel with your chosen ground coat, candy and clear coat to confirm the finished result.

Build the colour evenly

An even ground coat and consistent candy application help achieve a uniform finish. Build the colour gradually, maintaining consistent spray technique and overlap.

Candy coats add transparent colour rather than hiding variations beneath them, so careful preparation and application are essential. Follow the product instructions for flash-off times and coating technique.

UV stability and clear coat protection

For lasting results, use the recommended DNA ground coats and Candy Reducer, then finish with a compatible clear coat offering high UV stability and UV protection.

DNA Diamond Clear is the recommended final clear coat for the Candy ColorZ™ system, providing gloss and protection while helping preserve the colour.

True candy dyes can fade over time, particularly with prolonged sunlight exposure. Using the recommended paint system helps minimise this effect, with colour retention depending on the colour, application and exposure conditions.
