The TRIDENT Pearl Airbrush Paint Set gives airbrush artists seven traditional interference pearl colours for creating everything from subtle highlights to bold, dramatic pearlescent effects.

Unlike a solid colour, an interference pearl interacts strongly with the colour underneath it. Apply TRIDENT Pearls over black or darker colours for greater contrast and a stronger pearl effect. Alternatively, use them over lighter colours for a softer, more transparent appearance.

Transform the Effect with Your Ground Colour

The colour beneath a TRIDENT Pearl becomes an important part of the final effect. Dark ground colours create greater contrast and allow the pearl colour to appear stronger and more dramatic. Lighter colours produce a softer and more subtle pearlescent appearance.

As a result, the seven pearl colours can produce an enormous variety of effects. Experiment with different ground colours, pearl combinations and application techniques to create finishes ranging from delicate highlights through to striking custom effects.

Control Colour Strength with Transparent Base

The included TRIDENT Transparent Base is one of the most useful tools in the TRIDENT system. It contains no colour pigment, allowing you to reduce colour strength and increase transparency while maintaining the paint’s viscosity and performance.

This means you can take a strong pearl colour and progressively weaken its visual intensity, even to an extremely subtle effect, without simply adding more and more reducer or water. The mixture continues to behave like paint rather than becoming excessively diluted.

Transparent Base is therefore the professional way to create transparent layers, soft pearl effects, subtle colour transitions and controlled glazes. It also gives you much greater control when building artwork gradually in multiple layers.

The two supplied mixing bottles make it easy to create, store and reuse your own custom pearl mixtures.

TRIDENT Airbrush Paint Reducer: For standard airbrushing, TRIDENT paint is typically reduced approximately 1:1 with prepared TRIDENT Reducer. The reducer is specifically formulated to maximise paint flow and minimise tip dry. Adjust the reduction to suit your airbrush, nozzle size, pressure and painting technique.

Painting T-Shirts, Fabrics or Textiles?

TRIDENT is an excellent multi-surface paint and can also be used for textile artwork. When painting fabrics, apply TRIDENT T-Shirt Booster over the completed artwork before heat-setting. T-Shirt Booster helps minimise colour fade and washout while helping lock the artwork into the fabric.

Reduction & Application

TRIDENT air cures naturally, although warm air can accelerate the curing process. For automotive, metal and other hard-surface applications, correctly prepare and clean the surface before applying TRIDENT. Use the appropriate primer or substrate preparation system where required.

For textile applications, follow the recommended TRIDENT textile preparation and heat-setting process.
